### Job summary

We have the opportunity for a permanent post for a Health care support worker to join the Sandwell Sexual Health Service .

We would like to recruit an enthusiastic assistant who wants to deliver excellent sexual health services and be part of a motivated team of professionals. We are a multi-professional progressive team providing a comprehensive, evidence based and patient focused service for Contraception and Genitourinary Medicine specialising in integrated sexual health and HIV services

The post holder will be working alongside our multi-disciplinary team including two consultant, specialist nurses, HIV pharmacist and dieticianto deliver sexual health and contraceptive support, treatments and managements across the boroughs of Sandwell and the West Midlands.

The post holder will be actively participating in health promotion and supporting vulnerable groups which will include events within the local community enabling the post holder to engage with the community and offer and promote our services.They will be working at the main hub at the Lyng Centre and our outreach services across Sandwell.

### Main duties of the job

Main responsibilities include:

Support the multidisciplinary team to provide high standards of patient care.

Contribute to care delivery in accordance with polies, procedures and guidelines

Deliver care under the supervision and direction of qualified members of the team and recognise when to escalate.

Carry out basic sample collection as directed by a qualified clinician including blood and urine for pregnancy or urinalysis.

Assit in the planning and implementation of health promotion events

Under the supervision of qualified staff facilitate the contraceptive blood pressure clinic, undertaking baseline observations for prior to contraception distribution.

Assist in the maintenance of departmental supplies of drugs, dressings, and other stocks items, reporting any shortfall, as appropriate

- Substantial post qualification experience working in a hospital or other health care setting.

**Desirable**

- Previously worked or undertaken work experience in Gynaecology, Sexual Health or outpatients setting.
- Working with vulnerable patients such as patients with dementia, Learning Disabilities, etc.
- Trained and experienced with phlebotomy
- Experience working in an outpatient setting

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- NVQ Level II (or equivalent) In Healthcare related subject.
- Key skills - literacy and numeric (or equivalent)
- Level 2 Maths & English Qualification ( Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSE or" Level Grade C , CSE Grade 1 or equivalen
- Willing to work towards NVQ Level 3

**Desirable**

- NVQ Level 3 in healthcare related subject
- Basic First aid certificate
- De-escalation training
