The fellowship provides an excellent opportunity to develop a ‘specialist interest’ while gaining additional experience in PEM in a hospital that looks after a financially and ethnically diverse population. ### Main duties of the job This job will entail protected 20% of your time for Leadership and Governance development within the Emergency Department. We are looking for a candidate who can deliver a significant leadership and governance project within the Emergency Department. On appointment to this post, a discussion between the successful candidate and the supervisor would occur, to be able to prepare for a QI project that is both of interest to the candidate and the department. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post-holders will be an integral part of the clinical team and will carry out the following duties: - Reception, examination, diagnosis, resuscitation, treatment and management of patients in the Emergency Department until appropriate transfer to inpatient facility or discharge home. This includes both medical and trauma patients. - Running flow, safety and clinical decision making of department at night (0000-0800) when consultant is on-call from home. - Supervision of more junior medical staff in the Emergency Department. - Participation in the Trust Major Incident Procedure. - Participation in delivering teaching to undergraduate students attached to the Department. - Attendance at departmental meetings as appropriate. - Participation in annual NHS appraisal. ### Applicant requirements You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
