We are seeking an experienced, visible and highly motivated Senior Facilities Manager to lead our Housekeeping and Ward Hostess Services.

This is a key operational leadership role with responsibility for delivering consistently high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, patient mealtime support and patient experience across the Trust. You will lead and develop a large, diverse workforce providing essential services across a complex, 24-hour acute hospital environment.

Working closely with clinical teams, IPC, Estates and Facilities colleagues, you will ensure that services meet the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness, support patient flow and respond effectively to changing operational pressures. You will use performance information, audits and staff feedback to improve standards, productivity and service reliability.

### Main duties of the job

The Post Holder will provide an overall operational and strategic leadership to the Housekeeping / Cleaning & Ward Hostess services that provide food service to patients on ward, for the Trust at the acute hospital and other satellite sites.

The post holder will manage the Trust Housekeeping/cleaning provision, including the cleaning all patient and outpatient areas on site and responsibility for any new and existing sites.

The Post holder will also manage the housekeeping, pest control and window cleaning services in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness 2025 and monitor performance and liaising with clinical staff and contractors to ensure efficient, cost effective and patient centred service provision.

Providing an excellent, safe & compliant Housekeeping & Ward Hostess Services for the Trust - leading a team of around 250 staff with £7m + budget.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for the strategic and operational planning of the housekeeping and ward hostess services

Ensure that the service provision is timely, of the required quality and in accordance with the statutory regulations (NSHC 2021), Service Level Agreements, contractual specifications and Trust requirements, working closely with clinical teams and others to provide the best services to patients.

Ensure all outsourced contracts are managed appropriately; monitoring KPI’s, legal compliance, customer satisfaction and value for money.

To monitor service performance through the development and use of Key Performance indicators (KPIs) and the Directorate assurance dashboard to demonstrate the delivery of agreed service standards.

Conduct annual surveys, risk assessments and audits to monitor service performance and take appropriate actions to address actual or potential service failures, risks and regulatory non- compliance.

Present performance reports with action plans to the GM Facilities on performance delivery

Actively promote quality in the team, by making clear standards, expectations, monitoring progress and taking action when standards fall short of expectations.

To work closely with the GM Facilities in developing strategies for the improvement of logistics services in all areas of responsibility.

Development of short, medium and long term business plans and action as appropriate.

To take responsibility for managing a broad range of complex changes in a range of service areas, helping to influence change at all levels of the organisation.

Produce complex reports about organisational development issues, recommending courses of action.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

**Essential**

- Fully conversant with statutory requirements, NHS guidance, Codes of Practice and the requirements of Regulatory Bodies
- Knowledge of current legislation relating to National Standards of Cleanliness, the services such as COSHH, Hygiene Code, Infection Control, Environmental Protection
- The ability to demonstrate a keen understanding of the issues relating to the Trust, the NHS and how these influence the Facilities as a service provider of choice
- Understanding of effective contract management, service KPIs and Value for Money
- A clear understanding of the importance of creating a safe and secure environment for NHS staff patients and assets

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience in a facilities management position, ideally within the NHS or public sector
- Experience of successful project and change management
- Experience of managing a large budget and financial controls and savings
- Experience of organisational change and service development

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to degree level, equivalent qualification, or appropriate specialist qualifications and experience
- Membership of professional body in Facilities Management or equivalent specialism.
- Proven track record of continuous professional development to ensure up-to-date knowledge
