NHS Highland Public Dental Service currently has an exciting opportunity for a full time Senior Dental Officer to provide services from the two clinics in the beautiful Skye and Lochalsh area, Dunvegan and Kyle of Lochalsh. The Public Dental Service provides care to patient groups who cannot access NHS dentistry via General Dental Practitioners and the post holder will be expected to provide the full range of General Dental Services to these groups including anxious patients, so experience in delivering inhalation sedation is desirable. The post holder will also oversee and coordinate QI/Audit activity for dentists across the NHS Highland Dental Service and oversee Appraisal for all PDS clinicians.

Clinical experience of providing treatment to priority group patients and experience of providing routine general dental services is desirable. GDC registration as a dentist and successful listing with the Health Board are essential. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, while having the ability to deal with difficult situations and challenging patient behaviours in a positive manner will be essential.
