Powys Teaching Health Board’s Community Dental Service is seeking to appoint a Senior Dental Officer. The base location is Llandrindod Wells.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and innovative team delivering a broad spectrum of dental services. The successful candidate will work alongside specialist colleagues and benefit from opportunities to develop additional skills within a supportive environment.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) However, part time would be considered. The ability to travel across sites is essential. Applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) and hold the appropriate qualifications required for this post.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the planning and delivery of a high-quality domiciliary dental service across Powys, providing comprehensive care to patients who are unable to access traditional dental settings due to frailty, disability, complex medical needs, or social circumstances.

The role will include clinical, managerial, and strategic responsibilities, ensuring the service is safe, effective, patient-centred, and aligned with wider Powys Teaching Health Board priorities.

The successful candidate will be required to provide urgent access when capacity allows. This role includes line management of clinical staff, oversight of complex patient care, service planning and coordination, and acting as a key strategic link with Primary Care Clusters, the Powys Frailty Programme, and wider multidisciplinary teams.

- Excellent oral and written skills

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Appropriate graduate qualification or equivalent in Dentistry
- Relevant postgraduate Dental Qualification
- Full registration with the GDC

### Technical Smills

**Essential**

- Ability to achieve and maintain professional standards
- Knowledge of General Dental Services including use of electronic record keeping, NHS rules and regulations, understanding of the current FP17W form. Knowledge of Contract Reform and principles in Wales

**Desirable**

- Ability to readily understand and analyse information
- Working knowledge of the Welsh healthcare system
- I.T skills
- Working knowledge of the current Welsh NHS policies/processes insofar as they relate to the delivery of special care dentistry in Wales

### Knowledge and experience

**Essential**

- Competent clinician including all level 1 procedures, ability to work in a team as well as in isolation. Totally flexible in the ability to be able to work in different environments including a mobile dental unit. This will also include a domiciliary setting
- Current knowledge of dental surgery techniques, procedures, materials and concepts
- Appreciation of the requirements of confidentiality/consent
- Proven track record of being able to work on own initiative
- GDS experience
- Eligible for performers number

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary settings
- MOS experience
- Teaching experience

### Skills, Abilities, Knowledge

**Essential**

- Ability to be methodical with a good attention to detail
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- A willingness to undertake further training and personal development as required

- The ability to travel both within and outside Powys as required
