We are recruiting for a part time  Band 8a Senior Clinician for the ESE Talking Therapies Team, which will be based in Oxford House. Ideally the successful candidate will work on Friday's as part of their week but flexible working will be considered.

The HPFT Talking Therapies Team covers Hertfordshire, with the main bases being Hemel Hempstead,  Watford , Stevenage (Stevenage and North Herts) Ware and Welwyn.

### Main duties of the job

- You will help to deliver & implement the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme across Hertfordshire
- A key part of the role will be to ensure that IAPT national guidelines are being followed within the service, targets are achieved & that the clinical governance arrangements are in place
- You will provide a specialist psychological therapy service to clients held within the service. This will involve providing psychological assessment & therapy & where appropriate offering advice & consultation on clients’ psychological care to colleagues & to other professionals, working under supervision within professional guidelines & the overall framework of the team’s policies & procedures
- You will lead on our long term health conditions integrated care pilot that is part of our IAPT service. This is a varied role that includes a range of promotional activities, attending meetings, giving presentations and ensuring timely data collection within the teams. Suitable candidates will have a specialist interest in working with Long Term Conditions and experience of providing psychological interventions for people with Long Term Conditions.
- You will provide specialist supervision, clinical leadership, consultation, guidance and training to High Intensity Workers & Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. They will hold responsibility for the screening of referrals into their team.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- They will ensure accurate record keeping for assessment & interventions from all clinical staff within the service using the agreed information systems
- They will ensure the systematic provision of a high quality Psychological therapies services.
- To work with the other senior clinicians to provide relevant information & data to the team & service managers & professional leads as required

- To work within professional guidelines & exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service
- To work with senior colleagues within the service to develop & maintain psychosocial models of care relevant to the client group
- To provide relevant teaching, training & supervision within the service & where appropriate across the Trust
- To attend service development meetings as appropriate, in liaison with the Deputy Clinical Leads and Countywide Clinical Lead
- To suggest & implement where agreed policy changes within the IAPT service
- To work with senior colleagues to provide input as appropriate around audit, policy & service development & research within the area served by IAPT & the mental health service, & to disseminate this information widely.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Demonstrates an understanding of the national IAPT programme
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
- Specialist skills in psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation
- Experience in treating more complex problems such as OCD and PTSD
- Planning and organising skills for caseload management.
- High standard of written and verbal communication abilities
- An understanding of the importance of clinical governance
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and national policies in particular the NSF (Adult) and IAPT and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group.
- Skills in providing consultation and advice to other professional and nonprofessional groups.
- Evidence of continuing professional Development
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable
- Advanced keyboard and computer skills

**Desirable**

- Specialist knowledge and experience of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
- Experience of facilitating CBT groups
- Research knowledge and skills
- Proven ability in carrying out clinical audits
- Knowledge and Experience of using PC-MIS for clinical data recording, supervision and information management
- Proven experience of working with people with long term conditions in physical healthcare settings. In depth understanding of issues specific to this population including presenting difficulties and potential barriers to engagement.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant supervised experience of working in a mental health setting as a qualified Applied psychologist/CBT Therapist OR Substantial Supervised experience of working as a mental health professional
- Significant Previous experience of IAPT ways of working

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in Primary Care Services
- Experience of having worked in a service where agreed targets need to be achieved with a view to demonstrating clinical outcomes
- Significant experience of working with Long Term Health Conditions in a primary care mental health setting
- Experience of service audit
- Research experience
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
- Experience of developing and implementing service policies and procedures

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Doctorate level training in Clinical or Counselling psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence, with HPC registration. Must be clearly eligible for BABCP accreditation OR A core mental health professional training (eg nursing, social work, OT) or equivalent
- MSc/Post Graduate Diploma in CBT
- BABCP accredited or clearly eligible for BABCP accreditation

**Desirable**

- Leadership training.
- Training in one of the other IAPT compliant modalities (IPT, DIT or Couples Counselling)
- Training in the provision of supervision
