### Job overview

There is an exciting opportunity for two  highly motivated and skilled technologists to join our friendly, experienced and multicultural Nuclear Medicine team at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.

The department operates a GE Discovery 870 SPECT/CT system installed in 2023 with plans in place to install a second SPECT/CT system soon.  Therefore experience in hybrid imaging would be a great advantage.

Lung ventilation imaging is performed with the newest Technegas system.

Previous experience in aseptic radiopharmaceutical production would be of benefit as the department operates an onsite radiopharmacy under Section 10 Exemption regulations, producing Tc-99m labelled products for own use.

The local area offers some of the lowest housing costs in England and many excellent schools.  The area is geographically varied including the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, and the traditional seaside resort of Cleethorpes

### Main duties of the job

The Nuclear Medicine department currently operates 0800-1800 Monday – Friday; the post holder will be expected to participate in this rota - all contracts will be 7 day contracts

The post holders will be expected to participate in all aspects of the department’s workload as part of a team.  You will be expected to work to extremely high standards of safety with high patient throughput.

Work will include:

- Patient scanning
- Image processing
- Transferring and archiving of patient data
- Equipment quality control
- Radiopharmacy production and dispensing duties
- Radiopharmacy cleaning
- Environmental testing of the radiopharmacy suite
- Radiation monitoring
- Radioactive waste management
- Keeping up to date with personal training and participating in training of less experienced staff.
- Assisting senior colleagues in day to day running of service.

## Person Specification

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- HCPC registered radiographer or already on or eligible for registration on voluntary register of clinical technologists.
- Appropriate qualification in Nuclear Medicine or Radiology

**Desirable**

- Post Graduate course in Nuclear Medicine

### Occupational experience and abilities

**Essential**

- Specialist knowledge and evidence of practical experience in the majority of Nuclear Medicine procedures and practices
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, professional and other guidelines. e.g. IR(ME)R etc.
- Working knowledge of other medical imaging procedures and their relevance to Nuclear Medicine procedures

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with SPECT/CT systems
- Prior experience of Radiopharmaceutical production
- Experience of supervision of students and less experienced staff
- Able to cannulate
- Experience of delegated authorization of routine Nuclear Medicine investigations under IR(ME)R

### Communication and Interpersonal Skills

**Essential**

- Good communication - verbal/written Excellent command of English language
- Demonstrates understanding of confidentiality
- Be able to work on own initiative
- Show knowledge in health and safety issues
