An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our General Medicine Division.

The successful applicant will work alongside registered nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The role involves supporting patient assessment, monitoring and management, assisting with a range of clinical and therapeutic procedures, and contributing to the delivery of safe and effective care throughout the patient journey.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide high-quality, compassionate, person-centered care to patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or healthcare professional.
- Assist in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of individualized patient care, following Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
- Support patients with their personal, physical and emotional care needs, ensuring dignity, privacy and respect are maintained at all times.
- Obtain and respect patient consent before delivering any aspect of care and involve relatives and carers appropriately in the care process.
- Undertake delegated clinical duties within the scope of your competence and training, escalating concerns when required.
- Accurately document care provided and promptly communicate relevant observations and information to the registered practitioner responsible for the patient's care.
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as urinalysis and specimen collection, accurately recording and reporting results in accordance with local procedures.
- Ensure specimens are transported safely and promptly to the appropriate department.
- Use safe moving and handling techniques and equipment in line with Trust policies to protect both patients and staff.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Able to undertake a limited range of delegated clinical care duties, e.g temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, blood glucose monitoring, urinalysis, wound observations, removal cannula/catheter
- Able to use and update IT systems with patient information

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
- Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
- Level 2 Maths and English qualification

**Desirable**

- Food handling Certificate
