This is a fantastic opportunity for an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist (or someone close to registration through STP/Route 2) to join a friendly and supportive team delivering a wide range of nuclear medicine services. The role includes involvement in diagnostic imaging, quality assurance, image processing, and a growing portfolio of radionuclide therapies including Lu-177 PRRT, I-131 and Ra-223, as well as clinical trials and service development. It's a particularly exciting time to join us as we prepare to move into the new Velindre Cancer Centre, opening in February 2027. The new hospital will provide a state-of-the-art environment for patients and staff, with modern facilities designed to support innovation, research and excellent patient care. Outside work, Cardiff offers the best of both worlds. As Wales's capital city, it provides all the benefits of a modern, vibrant city, with excellent restaurants, culture and sporting events. Beautiful beaches along the South Wales coast and world-class hiking in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park are both within around an hour's drive, making it an ideal location for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. x1 This post is fixed term for 12 months due to - meet the needs of the service x1 Permanent ### Main duties of the job The role of the post-holder is to provide clinical scientist expertise in the field of Nuclear Medicine. The role involves autonomy and personal responsibility. The post-holder is required to participate in the routine clinical service (both diagnostic imaging, non-imaging and radionuclide therapies) as well as clinical trials. The post holder is expected to take a leading role in the teaching and training of staff and students. The role involves using highly complex imaging and measurement equipment, developing and applying information technology, dealing with hazards such as radiation and biological samples. Interpreting and complying with extensive legislation is an essential part of the post-holder’s duties. The post-holder will be required to contribute to staff and service development in Velindre Cancer Centre, both within and outside the department. Welsh language skills are desirable ## Person Specification ### Other **Essential** - Engaged in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) **Desirable** - Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards ### Experience **Essential** - Significant experience training and working within a Nuclear Medicine department; working in a patient facing role and with unsealed radiopharmaceuticals. - Experience of using and performing quality assurance on a range of technical equipment such as a SPECT/CT, radionuclide calibrator and gamma counter.
