### Job overview

Emergency Department Senior ED Research Nurse

Barts Health NHS Trust has a vision to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond.

At Barts Health NHS Trust, we pride ourselves on delivering the latest in evidence-based healthcare. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who wants to help us develop the evidence base in emergency medicine further and support the delivery of high-quality clinical research across our Emergency Departments.

We are currently recruiting to a full-time Band 7 Senior Clinical Research Nurse post to help lead our award-winning team of emergency medicine research nurses. The successful applicant will contribute to the coordination and delivery of NIHR portfolio studies across Barts Health Emergency Departments, working closely with the Consultant Lead for Emergency Medicine Research, the Lead ED Research Nurse, principal investigators, clinical teams, commercial and non-commercial sponsors, and external research networks.

### Main duties of the job

Applicants should ideally have a background in emergency department nursing and clinical research. They should be confident working with a high degree of autonomy, managing their own workload, supporting junior members of the team, and contributing to the safe and effective delivery of trauma and emergency care research studies. The role will involve identifying, approaching, consenting and recruiting suitable patients, collecting accurate research data, supporting trial set-up and feasibility work, and helping studies meet recruitment and performance targets.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will also play an important leadership role within the team, supporting staff training, clinical supervision, study coordination, research governance, and compliance with Good Clinical Practice, Trust policies and study protocols. Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice and current research governance requirements will be essential. Experience of working in emergency care, delivering clinical research, phlebotomy and cannulation, and supporting learners or junior staff would be particularly valuable.

The successful applicant will be primarily based in the Emergency Department at The Royal London Hospital but may be required to work across Barts Health acute hospital sites and to support collaboration with other hospitals and research partners nationally and internationally. The role may include flexible working patterns, including antisocial hours and weekends, depending on the needs of the research portfolio.
