Exciting opportunities have arisen for a Senior Clinical Psychologist or recently qualified psychologist interested in preceptorship roles. We require a motivated and dynamic Clinical Psychologist to join our growing team offering input to adult mental health inpatient facilities within Ormskirk, based at the Scarisbrick Inpatient Unit.

Candidates who do not yet meet all Band 8a requirements may be appointed to a Band 7 preceptorship role. They will follow a structured development programme to build the competencies needed for progression to Band 8a. This development and assessment period can last up to two years and is overseen by the professional lead for Central and West locality.

### Main duties of the job

LSCFT inpatient wards are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder supports the delivery of a psychology service on the Scarisbrick Inpatient Unit, Ormskirk and District General Hospital, with the role including:

- To provide a Clinical Psychology Service to patients of the nominated team including the provision of enhanced specialist psychological assessment and therapy.
- To offer advice, supervision and consultation on patient’s psychological care to psychology and non-psychology colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.
- This could include the supervision of the delivery and evaluation of structured therapeutic groups delivered by assistant psychologists
- To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area in which the post holder works.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to the client group.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.

### Education / Qualifications

**Essential**

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
