We are looking for a psychologist to join the Home Based Treatment Teams in South Cumbria. The role is based across two teams in Barrow-in-Furness and Kendal who already work closely together. The post will be supported by a Principal Clinical Psychologist based within the Lancaster Home Based Treatment team and the Consultant Clinical Psychologist who works across the Acute and Urgent Pathways.

The Home Based Treatment Teams provides care for people experiencing acute episodes of mental illness or emotional distress. The service offers intensive support to service users and their families in the community. The service works closely with other agencies and mental health services, including inpatient wards. An interest in working with individuals with complex presentations will be essential, as are skills in taking an active role within a multidisciplinary framework.

### Main duties of the job

The post is focused on providing a balance of direct and indirect work. With time dedicated to providing individual assessment, formulation and short term intervention to service users. There is also an expectation that the role will also encompass service development, staff support and training alongside consultation work with other professionals.

The post will sit as part of a team of psychologists working within the area. The successful applicant will be welcomed as part of the service which encourages development of specific interests. There is also potential to explore opportunities to take on further development of competencies and longer term therapy work by working with other teams and services if helpful.

It is expected that you are able to demonstrate the attributes in the Job Description and Person Specification as a minimum. Part time and flexible working will be considered. ## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the service user group and mental health; knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- Skills in the use of specialist methods of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
- Skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within the outside the NHS.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working with a wide variety of service user groups, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of emotive and distressing problems.
- Experience and knowledge of issues relating to inclusivity and diversity.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- HCPC Registered
- Doctoral level or equivalent training in clinical/counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS.
