An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and clinically credible professional to join our team at the Health and Care Academy.

We are seeking an accomplished educator to lead the development, design and delivery of a new academic programme for practitioners working at enhanced level of practice. This is a key role that will shape the future workforce by supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for enhanced clinical decision making and person centred care.

The successful candidate will be an experienced clinician, holding a non medical prescribing qualification and possessing demonstrable expertise in enhanced assessment, clinical examination and diagnostic reasoning skills. They will be able to act as a credible professional role model, providing expert guidance, support and advice to learners, clinical supervisors and managers.

### Main duties of the job

- Lead the development, design and delivery of education for practitioners working at enhanced level of practice.
- Support learners undertaking enhanced practice education pathways through coaching, mentoring and professional support.
- Work collaboratively with clinical services to identify workforce development needs and educational priorities.
- Act as an expert resource for enhanced clinical practice and clinical skills development.
- Maintain clinical competence and professional credibility through ongoing clinical practice and continued professional development.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Effectively undertake a lead role in learning & teaching of academic and clinical programmes delivered at the Northumbria Health and Care Academy.
- To enhance the reputation of the Northumbria Health and Care Academy and University of Sunderland as a centre of excellence by engaging with teaching, reach-out and research programmes in nursing and health related topics.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

### Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

**Desirable**

- You may also need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties. You may also be expected to work at any of the trust sites. The Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role

### Experience and knowledge

**Essential**

- Demonstrable experience of teaching and learning in the field of nursing
- Proven experience of working with NMC approved programmes in academic and/or practice setting

**Desirable**

- Experience of module leadership within a Higher Education Institution desirable
- Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
- Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods

### Qualifications / Professional Registration

**Essential**

- 1st Level Registered Nurse with effective NMC registration/ Allied health professional with effective HPCP registration / 1st Level Registered Midwife with effective NMC registration
- Educated to degree level in Nursing or a related subject
- Postgraduate qualification in a related subject area (Masters study)
- Higher Education teaching qualification or working towards and completion will be within 12 months of appointment (e.g. PGCE)
- Non Medical prescribing required for those teaching on programmes related to non medical prescribing

**Desirable**

- Higher Education Academy Fellowship status
- Professional Nursing Advocate
