The 12 month fellowship is supervised by Miss Joanna Higgins and Jeremy Southgate. ### Main duties of the job The post holder will be employed in the Trauma & Orthopaedic Directorate, working between Bournemouth Hospital (elective), Wimborne Hospital (elective) and Poole Hospital (trauma). All aspects of elective and traumatic conditions affecting the hand and wrist are covered between the two sites. These include wrist fracture fixation, scaphoid surgery to include non-unions, soft tissue hand trauma, arthroplasty of the small joints of the hand, thumb base and wrist, arthroscopic wrist surgery and nerve decompression. The full range of hand and wrist surgery is covered, with potential to spend time in The Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby (up to two weeks every six months) to cover congenital hand, flap reconstruction and flexor tendon surgery. The aim of this fellowship is to offer particular emphasis on the training and quality improvement in hand and wrist surgery, both elective and trauma.
