### Job overview

The aim of the fellowship is to provide training and research opportunities in elective foot and ankle Surgery for a six/twelve-month period.  There will be no on-call duties.  The fellow will work with all the consultants in the Foot and Ankle Team.

This advert is for a post CCT Senior Fellow appointment - 7 candidates over 3 year period starting from April 27  to October 2030

The Unit specialises in elective foot and ankle surgery and provides complex tertiary care including treatment for joint preservation, ankle arthritis, deformity correction and neuromuscular conditions. There are 4 full time Orthopaedic Consultants. In addition, the unit has 3 Clinical Nurse Specialists, 2 physiotherapists, 2 orthotists and a research officer who help in the care on both inpatients and outpatients and who provide a one-stop shop for treatment in clinic.  Four trainees are attached to our unit: 2 fellows (these posts), 2 trainee registrars (ST3-ST8), and an international fellow may also be present.

Weekly time table consists of outpatient clinics, operating list, research, MDT meetings, and ward rounds.

Excellent facilities for clinical research are available in collaboration with Institute of Orthopaedics and the biomechanical engineering department. Time will be allowed for individual research.

Experience in foot and ankle surgery at SpR level and completion of CCT, already developed an interest in foot and ankle surgery, experience of research in foot and ankle surgery, experience of MDT working.

Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills, an understanding of the major risk factors for foot and ankle surgery at a population level and at the level of the individual, ability and enthusiasm to teach medical undergraduates and Allied Health Professionals.

Weekly time table consists of outpatient clinics, operating list, research, MDT meetings, and ward rounds, supporting and training the junior doctors.

The fellows will spend time with all 4 of the foot and ankle consultants, Mr Nick Cullen, Mr Matthew Welck, Mr Shelain Patel and Mr Karan Malhotra
