## Job Content

### Job overview

Applications are invited for 3 Senior Clinical Fellows in Urology. This is a fixed term appointment for a period of 12 months. The post is based at Denmark Hill and the post holder will be expected to participate on the 1:8 middle grade rota.   This is an excellent opportunity within the Urology department at Kings College NHS Trust.

The Urology Department at King’s provides extensive emergency, inpatient and outpatient services to the Trust, and also has a vital part to play in the successful and timely delivery of services for patients with cancer. The Urology Department as pioneered innovative and award winning surgery at King’s over recent years, and seeks to continue to do so as part of the Trust’s evolving strategy to be a centre of excellence for ambulatory and short stay surgical care, for which the Trust was given formal recognition by the Department of Health in 2004 as one of five designated Centres of Training and Innovation in Elective Care (CITECs).  King’s has pioneered laparoscopic surgery in Urology and has continued the tradition with dedicated operating theatres.

### Main duties of the job

We are currently seeking  3 Senior Clinical Fellows to work within the Urology team, King’s College Hospital. You will take part in outpatient clinics and routine inpatient care as directed. You will also be responsible for helping run the Haematuria, prostate assessment and emergency follow up clinics. The emergency on call rota (non-resident) will be part of your remit. Assistance in operating theatres (both inpatient and outpatient) will be programmed into your timetable. Urological emergencies may need operative management and you will be expected to arrange urgent theatre slots and ensure that patients are adequately prepared.

On 1st of October 2013 King’s enlarged the organisation following acquisition of the Princess Royal University Hospital, Orpington Hospital and associated services from South London Healthcare Trust. The Urology teams across the Denmark Hill and Princess Royal University Hospital sites are promoting close working between the teams and are continually reviewing cross-site working arrangements. This post provides an exciting opportunity to rotate across the two sites and gain valuable experience from both areas of the trust.

It is envisaged that this post is ideal for someone who wishes to gain more urological experience prior to applying for national selection into an ST role. It is envisaged that the successful applicant would work across both sites and focus on core urology but have exposure to laparoscopy and research.
