The fellow is also expected to be available for 6 weekend general paediatric surgical lists over the 12 month period in the new children’s day surgery unit (CDSU) - PICU commitments include: the management of all admitted patients with aim of increased allocation in managing paediatric cardiac surgical and medical patients. - Participation in the PICU and retrieval service on call rota - Participation in teaching and clinical governance activity in both specialties is expected. ### Main duties of the job Duties and Responsibilities - To manage PICU patients under the supervision of the Chief PICU Fellow and Consultant on Duty. - To attend cardiac anaesthesia lists including cardiac theatre, MRI, interventional cath lab, echo lists etc - To attend the cardiac surgical planning meetings, - To take part in a full-shift PICU rota which will include being resident when on the night shift. - To undertake teaching and guideline development within the fixed rota. - To participate in the Paediatric Retrieval rota. - To participate in the training of the Retrieval Nurse Practitioners. - To undertake a PALS or APLS Course if have not already done so. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities - The post is for an initial 12 month period with a potential to extend. - Anaesthesia commitments will include theatre lists in paediatric cardiac surgery, cardiac MRI, TOE, interventional cardiac catheter lab lists and any list involving cardiac patients having non cardiac surgery including patients with adult congenital heart disease. - PICU commitments include: the management of all admitted patients with aim of increased allocation in managing paediatric cardiac surgical and medical patients. - Participation in the PICU and retrieval service on call rota - Participation in teaching and clinical governance activity in both specialties is expected.
