### Job overview

This post is a full-time, fixed-term fellowship of one year. The post is suitable for a GMC-registered adult or paed cardiologist with an intention to train in inherited cardiac diseases and electrophysiology.

The Trust is in an excellent position to support training in all aspects of ICC however the successful candidate will be required to focus on the electrophysiology and channelopathy. The position is considered a senior training post and will enable the candidate to gain further understanding in the interpretation and application of genetics to inherited cardiological disease and imaging, as well as improving their knowledge of arrhythmia in this setting. It will also include learning of risk stratification and principles of interpreting and programming devices with an assessment of risk. The position may also pursue aspects of lab-based electrophysiological work according to their interest.

The education of students, junior staff and collaborative senior staff is embedded in our work and the successful candidate will be expected to take part in these educational activities. Similarly, research is, and always will be, a priority for our trust and any successful candidate will be expected to deliver both clinical audits and research for publication. Patient consultation and feedback is an important aspect of ongoing development of our services and the candidate will need to show at least one patient survey as part of their portfolio of work.

### Main duties of the job

To maintain current knowledge of inherited cardiac conditions and to participate in a recognised programme of continuing medical education and professional development.

To assist in the management of junior and research medical staff and of technical staff according to Trust policies and in line with the requirements of the clinical service.

To maintain effective communication and working relationships with medical, scientific, operational, technical, and nursing staff as required for performing the responsibilities of this post.

To set and maintain high professional standards.

To participate in clinical audit programme and clinical governance

To assist in the management of junior and research, medical and technical staff according to Trust policies and in line with the requirements of the clinical service
