### Job overview

We are currently looking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatal Intensive care. The appointment is available from September 2026 for a fixed term period  of 12 months. The posts do not award a National Training Number. As these posts are not recognised as ‘training posts’ full registration with the GMC with a license to practise is  or eligible to be registered with GMC IS required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK, sponsorship will be required.

Duties of this post are equivalent to ST5-ST8 level. A minimum of four-year postgraduate experience in Paediatrics/Neonatology and full MRPCH or equivalent is essential criteria.

### Main duties of the job

Commitments include:

- Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Intensive Care, High Dependency and Special Care areas of the Neonatal Unit supervising the Tier 1 resident doctors.2.    They also have some responsibility for the management of babies on the postnatal wards in the Hospital.3.    Responsibility for attending high risk or abnormal deliveries in the Labour Ward or Operating Theatres.  However, deliveries which will require admission to the Intensive care Unit are usually managed by the Intensive Care Team.4.    Teaching.  There is a small but variable responsibility for teaching medical students.

## Person Specification

### Teaching

**Essential**

- Willingness and ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate trainees

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Medical Degree from a recognised university or institution
- Minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience in Paediatrics/Neonatology .
- Full MRPCH or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration with a license to practise at the time of application.
- Minimum 12 months experience in UK tertiary level Neonatal Intensive Care with relevant skills.
- Advanced airway skills.

**Desirable**

- Distinctions, prizes, awards, scholarships and other degrees
- Clinical experience in more than one tertiary neonatal unit
- Experience of working with electronic patient record systems
- More than 2 years of tertiary neonatal unit experience with relevant skills

### Audit / Research

**Essential**

- An understanding of the issues of clinical effectiveness and audit
- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practise where appropriate

**Desirable**

- Documented completed audits

### Communication Skills

**Essential**

- Good written communication skills

### Manegement and Clinical Governance

**Essential**

- Demonstrate an understanding of management and clinical governance issues
