The post is a 12-month fixed-term appointment, working across Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital. The successful candidate will contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, emergency endoscopy and flexible backfill of endoscopy lists, with opportunities to further develop advanced endoscopy skills. Applicants should be experienced at Senior Clinical Fellow/registrar-equivalent level in Gastroenterology or GI Surgery and competent to independently perform diagnostic OGD and colonoscopy, with appropriate JAG/JETS certification or demonstrable equivalent competence acceptable for independent practice within BHRUT. The post holder will work closely with Gastroenterologists, GI Surgeons and the wider multidisciplinary team and contribute to audit, clinical governance, teaching, training and service development. ### Main duties of the job There will be opportunities to participate in audit and research activities in the GI and endoscopy unit. - Banded post participating in Emergency Endoscopy on-call rota - opportunity available - Ward commitments including inpatient and outpatient opportunities. - Supervised academic training time including study days. - Supportive working environment for career development including procedure and work-based assessments. - Annual and study leave entitlement. In keeping with recent guidelines, the postholder will be expected to participate in the process of medical audit. There is an active postgraduate education centre with a well-stocked library. Regular meetings are held, and the appointee will be expected to attend and participate in the weekly Grand Round. There is a monthly clinical audit programme, each firm taking responsibility in rotation.
