### Job overview

The successful candidate will join a Diabetes and Endocrinology Department at a time of rapid growth and service development across the whole local health system including primary care, secondary care and community care.

The successful candidate will be a ‘generalist with a special interest model’ of placing ward based acute and sub-acute ward based general internal medicine as a core function while maintaining a specialty interest. The candidate will be welcomed into a well organised department providing a wide range of services in ward based General Internal Medicine and specialty and sub-specialty level services in Diabetes and Endocrinology. We work collaboratively and supportively together and are always looking to improve the care for our patients.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

- Able to appraise research
- Understanding of Evidence Based Medicine
- Understanding of the principles of medical audit and clinical governance
- Completed at least one audit project related to General Medicine

### Teaching

- A demonstrable interest in teaching
- Evidence of teaching medical students, nursing or paramedical staff

**Desirable**

- Experience with audit, teaching or research/critical review of literature

### Experience

**Essential**

- Must have completed at least two years’ full- time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least one of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty
- Must have equivalent experience and competencies
- Experience within the specialty in the UK

**Desirable**

- Current experience of working within the NHS
- Previous experience in a multidisciplinary setting

### Qualifications

- Full registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- MRCP or equivalent
- ALS

**Desirable**

- Research qualifications (PhD, MSc, Diploma or equivalent)

### Management & administrative experience

**Essential**

- Ability to effectively organise and manage clinical workload
- Understanding of the current structure of Health Services

**Desirable**

- Familiar with the recent initiatives and changes in NHS
