### Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a standalone IMT3 / Senior Clinical Fellow (SCF) to gain experience in Acute Medicine. It is suitable for doctors who are considering a career within the specialty or in a Group 1 Medical Speciality, or who simply wish to develop their skills and knowledge in adult medicine at a senior level. You will be part of the Acute Medicine team who deliver high quality care to patients at the front door of the hospital and will have the opportunity to practice procedural skills, develop your clinical acumen and leadership, reflecting the IMT3 curriculum. It is suitable for those completing the Alternative Certificate to enter Group 1 Higher Physician Speciality Training to enter training at ST4 level.

You will work with a dynamic multidisciplinary team and play a role in teaching medical students and junior doctors, work collaboratively with the START team (accelerated discharge therapy team), Virtual ward, frailty team as well as the other hospital-based specialties and tertiary services. Effective communication skills form a key part of this role, and this is an excellent opportunity to step up to the next level of clinical leadership and decision making from an SHO level role.

The postholder will work across the following 3 areas:

- the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), Mary Seacole North and South wards
- the Acute Medical Take
- the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (AEC) to facilitate same day emergency care (SDEC)

## Person Specification

### Clinical Skills

**Essential**

- At least 6 months experience of working in Acute Medicine or a General Medical Specialty within the UK (excluding clinical attachments)
- Completed UK Foundation Programme or equivalent (CREST form). This is not a suitable role for achieving a CREST sign off.
- Completed at least 2 years of Core Medical training (at SHO level) or equivalent

### Personal Qualities

### Education / Qualifications

- GMC registered with current license to practice
