Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is proud to be the Lead Provider of the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC) also known as TOUCAN.

We are the integrated commissioners of provision for specialist mental health, learning disability and autism services, for young people aged 12-18.

We are recruiting to a substantive full-time position of Senior Case Manager for Residential Children in Care, who will join our Clinical Commissioning Hub.  This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, clinically and operationally skilled staff member. We are seeking an individual who relishes the challenge of working with patients and building on strong relationships across our provider collaborative. The post holder will work directly with a designated Integrated Care Boards supporting Children in Care Case Managers across various settings across the West Midlands.  You will additionally provide support in monitoring  quality, safeguarding and gathering commissioning intelligence to improve outcomes for the patient population.

The successful candidate will need to have experience of working within complex systems We are particularly eager to hear from those candidates who have  clinical experience of working within specialist inpatient pathways with and those young people who  are subject to Deprivation of Liberty Orders and residing in residential homes.

### Main duties of the job

Case management is a recognised national role within the NHS and a national network of peers is well established who work cooperatively to ensure that the admission to a Tier 4 bed is appropriate, timely and focused on appropriate discharge. Possession of a relevant professional qualification is essential, as well as knowledge of wider mental health services and ICS systems. Direct experience of working in specialised secure care mental health, forensic services or eating disorders is desirable. We are looking for someone who has significant experience in working with Children in Care and Deprivation of Liberty Orders.

In addition, an understanding and experience of dealing with quality and clinical governance systems is required, as well as a proven track record of having excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

Full induction, training and opportunities for continuous professional development will be provided. Whilst there will be an element of home working, travel within the West Midlands and beyond will be expected for this post

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse or other registered health or social care professional
- Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- Able to travel across various sites where applicable

- Case management skills, focusing on the needs of the individual and the context of their pathway in relation to all clinical and legal processes

### Knowledge & Nature of Experience

**Essential**

- Detailed knowledge of legal issues pertaining to the specialist service, including MHA 1983, after care under supervision, sex offender legislation, probation orders and life license, Ministry of Justice procedures and child protection legislation
- Detailed operational knowledge of specialised secure CAMHs including risk assessment/management
- Significant experience of case management in specialised services
- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
- Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
- Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health and individual provider and commissioning organisations
- Member of relevant professional body.
