Come join our Psychological Therapies Department within the Forensic Service which spans Inpatient Hospital, HMPPS, and the Community. We are hiring 2x Full-Time Senior Assistant Psychologists who will each work in a split role based on the Littlemore Mental Health Centre site:

- 1x in a male medium secure service and in a male low secure service.
- 1x in a mixed pre-discharge service and in a female low secure service.

Please note this is a patient-facing role and you are expected to be on site throughout the working week.

If successful, you will be invited for interview which will comprise a written task, followed by a panel interview including an expert-by-experience.

### Main duties of the job

- Assisting Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists in psychological input, including developing psychological formulations, interventions, and evaluations.
- Carrying out structured risk assessments and neuropsychological assessments, as well as involvement in projects and research.
- Undertake protocol-based psychological assessments of clients, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
- Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client's problems, including risk of violence and protective factors, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in inpatient/residential settings.
- Assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups.
- To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- An understanding and ability to apply psychological knowledge to a mental health and forensic context
- Knowledge of software for databases and data analysis

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience working as an assistant psychologist with people with mental health problems

**Desirable**

- Experience of delivering psychological interventions in forensic settings

### Job-related skills

**Essential**

- High level of written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to apply empirical research skills

**Desirable**

- High standard of report writing skills

### Qualifications/Professional

**Essential**

- An upper second class honours degree, or higher in Psychology
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the BPS

**Desirable**

- Further post-graduate training in relevant areas of psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
