An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 School Nurse Assistant to join our School Health Team in Wandsworth. This is a permanent, term-time only role, working Monday to Friday, supporting school-based health screening services for children and young people.

The postholder will support the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP), including weighing and measuring Reception and Year 6 children, arranging school sessions, preparing information, transporting equipment and ensuring activity is completed accurately and sensitively.

You will work closely with children, school staff, parents and the wider School Health Team, helping pupils feel comfortable, reassured and able to take part. The role requires a compassionate approach, particularly when supporting children who may be nervous or have emotional, physical or social needs.

The role also includes accurate data entry on SystmOne/EMIS, validating class lists, uploading NCMP data, generating results letters and supporting hearing, vision or health questionnaire screening where commissioned.

We are looking for someone organised, reliable and confident communicating with children, parents, schools and colleagues. You will need good attention to detail, strong IT/admin skills and the ability to plan your workload, travel between schools and work in different school environments.

### Main duties of the job

- Support the delivery of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) in schools by measuring and recording the height and weight of Reception and Year 6 children in state-funded schools, including academies.
- Liaise with schools ahead of planned sessions to arrange suitable dates, confirm attendance and share the necessary information required for the screening programme.
- Plan and organise own travel to schools, including safely transporting the equipment needed to carry out NCMP screening activities.
- Use the relevant NCMP screening tools and systems accurately, following appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Ensure class lists and screening data are checked, validated and updated on the electronic patient record system in a timely manner to support NCMP deadlines.
- Accurately input NCMP data onto SystmOne after each screening session and upload the required information to the national School Screener/HSCIC system, maintaining concentration to ensure all measurements are recorded correctly.
- Work sensitively with children and school staff to help pupils feel comfortable, reassured and able to cooperate during the screening process.
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy and sensitivity when supporting children who may be nervous, distressed, or have emotional, physical or social needs
