You are invited to apply for an exciting Band 7 Safeguarding Professional role within our dynamic and supportive team.

We are seeking experienced practitioner with strong leadership skills, good safeguarding knowledge, and a commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people, and adults at risk.

Every day you will be using your transferrable knowledge and skills to support the diverse workforce in Oxford Health to safeguard adults and children.

The role will predominantly be adult workforce facing but a strong think family approach will need to be implemented within the role.

The role is very diverse and will include delivering training at L3 , facilitating regular supervision, and supporting consultations with staff will be part of your weekly work.

### Main duties of the job

We’re looking for an experienced professional with  knowledge of domestic abuse, MARAC processes, self -neglect, exploitation, or wider safeguarding themes to help drive safe, effective practice across the Trust. You’ll provide expert advice, support staff, lead training, shape policy, and strengthen multi‑agency working to ensure robust protection for children and adults at risk.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- To work closely with the Deputy Head of Safeguarding (adults/children), line manager, and the wider safeguarding service and other relevant parties (partner agencies) to provide a highly developed specialist Safeguarding Service to Trust staff which is consistent and co-ordinated in approach
- To support safe and effective practice by working in partnership with staff and line managers to address performance management issues with the aim of achieving improved outcomes for children and adults at risk Policy/ Strategy Responsibility
- To work in partnership with colleagues in the Trust to develop and implement safeguarding children and adult policies in the Trust that reflect relevant legislation, national guidance and Local Safeguarding Board partnerships’ policies and guidance
- To work in partnership with Trust Managers and Team leaders to ensure procedures, policies and guidelines are distributed
- To contribute to the design, development, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of the safeguarding training strategy and programme

## Person Specification

### To meet essential criteria for the role

**Essential**

- Extensive practical experience of working with service users
- Significant experience of working with children and families
- Experience of dealing with complex child protection issues including attendance at case conference/core groups.
- Practical experience of assessing a person’s mental capacity and undertaking best interests decisions
- Understanding of domestic abuse, substance misuse and mental health risk factors for children and adults.

### Experience of managing complex situations

**Essential**

- Confident in your knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Prevent (WRAP)
- Confident in your knowledge of the Mental Health Act and the implementation of the Guiding Principles of the Code of Practice
- Understanding of domestic abuse, substance misuse and mental health risk factors for children and adults.

**Desirable**

- Teaching/assessing qualification and experience

### Qualifications – Academic/Skills/Professional

**Essential**

- Professional health or social care registration (e.g. NMC, HPC)

**Desirable**

- Post graduate qualification
- Best Interests Assessor
- Teaching/assessing qualification and experience
