We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dynamic Hospital Liaison Team. You will provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting with a wide range of mental health needs.

As a senior clinical leader, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, offering specialist advice to medical colleagues within The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. You will contribute to service development, clinical governance, teaching and supervision, helping to shape high-quality, patient-centred mental health care within the hospital environment.

### Main duties of the job

Working member of multidisciplinary teams, the post holder will provide consultant clinical input as required, including face-to-face patient assessment for complex urgent acute liaison cases who are adults of working age. The clinical care of patients under the team will be timely and tailored to the needs of patients and their caregivers. The consultant will be expected to have a flexible weekly timetable designed to respond in a timely and reasonable manner to the needs of patients and caregivers as well as of team members for support and advice as necessary. The post-holder will work largely through advice and supervision with direct patient contact as required, with no personal caseload but with rapid throughput of patients and a need for prompt and flexible decision making. This more fluid style of working does not allow for easy quantification of workload.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Clinical supervision experience/skills. The aptitude and potential to develop a leadership role within the service with special emphasis on leading on quality and clinical standards and engaging in service improvement

**Desirable**

- Ability to undertake training/mentoring of medical staff in junior grades and enthusiasm for education.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of research processes Committed to Continuing Professional Development

**Desirable**

- Sound knowledge of NHS management structures and systems

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience within General Adult Psychiatry Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings. Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance

**Desirable**

- Prior experience working as a Consultant in Adult Psychiatry.
- Evidence of development of special interest (especially Liaison Psychiatry)
- Proven commitment to improving the quality of clinical care.
- Other special interest/expertise relevant to the post.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full registration with the GMC
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within six months of completing their CCT.

**Desirable**

- MRC Psych or equivalent higher qualification. Higher Specialist Training in Adult Psychiatry (e.g. SpR scheme).
- MD, Management qualification, other professional qualification (e.g. CBT, PSI, CAT} Endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry
