The successful applicant will be one of two consultants providing day to day medical support to the South Community Team in Rotherham. The base for this team is Swallownest Court in Rotherham with easy access to the M1 motorway. There is a Trust wide community review taking place from this year which will change the community teams’ function and bases to align with Neighbourhood working. The aptitude and potential to develop a leadership role within the service with special emphasis on leading on quality and clinical standards and engaging in service improvement **Desirable** - - Ability to undertake training/mentoring of medical staff in junior grades and enthusiasm for education. ### Knowledge **Essential** - - Knowledge of research processes **Desirable** - - Committed to Continuing Professional Development - - Sound knowledge of NHS management structures and systems ### Additional **Essential** - - Approved or eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of MHA 1983 - - Approved or eligible for Approved Clinician Status. **Desirable** - - Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area ### Experience **Essential** - - Previous experience within Older Adult General Adult Psychiatry - - Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings. - - Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance **Desirable** - - Prior experience working as an old age Consultant in Adult Psychiatry. - - Evidence of development of special interest - - Proven commitment to improving the quality of clinical care - - Other special interest/expertise relevant to the post. ### Qualifications **Essential** - - Full registration with the GMC - - Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Old Age Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within six months of completing their CCT.
