We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated pharmacists to join our existing patient focused team of Rotational & Specialist rotational Clinical Pharmacists who provide our clinical pharmacy service to our services at The Royal Oldham Hospital. This rotational post will provide you with an outstanding breadth of experience in a comprehensive portfolio of specialised areas including:   Surgery (vascular, urology, orthopaedics); Acute Medicine; Cardiology; Acute Respiratory; Gastroenterology; Paediatrics; Aseptics. Moving on to areas including Haematology, Critical Care, Neonatology and Clinical Trials.

This position is ideal for pharmacists looking to develop clinical skills in a dynamic working environment, supported by our senior pharmacists.  You will be supported to complete your diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent and non medical prescribing qualification.  This post is open to newly qualified pharmacists or those changing sector where you will be supported in progression from Band 6 to 7.

Trainee Pharmacist who are due to sit their exam in summer of 2026 are welcome to apply.

### Main duties of the job

Your role will be focused on the medicine optimisation of patients admitted through our specialities to identify medication related issues that may have led to the admission, the reduction of risks from prescribing errors and the ongoing review of prescribing in order to ensure harm free care for patients. Working in these specialities will provide you the opportunity to work closely with a variety of other healthcare professionals including specialist nurses and consultants to treat patients in a way that delivers the best care for them. You will be expected to work as an integral part of the MDT by providing expert advice regarding medication management, supporting medical staff to ensure safe and cost-effective prescribing and to provide accurate information to primary care and community care providers on discharge. You must be a motivated and driven pharmacist with excellent clinical and communication skills. You must be efficient, organised, being able to work both in a team and autonomously and be innovative and resourceful. You must be willing to work flexible hours over a seven day period within a structured rota.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Vocational Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Completed foundation pharmacist training and passed registration exam

### Skills & Abilities

**Essential**

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Skills for analysing drug charts and patient information in order to provide advice on medicines, dosages
- Good time management skills
- Influencing skills

**Desirable**

- Independent Transport available

### Professional Registration

**Essential**

- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain

### Knowledge, Training & Experience

**Essential**

- Understanding of issues affecting NHS & hospital pharmacy
- Professional knowledge acquired through a vocational master’s degree in pharmacy
- Ability to work on initiative and as part of a team
- Self-motivating
- Commitment to continuing professional development / education
- Computer literate

**Desirable**

- Sufficient hospital pharmacy experience
