We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Band 6 Rotational Clinical Pharmacist to join us on a 12‑month fixed‑term Winter pressure.

About the role

As a key member of our clinical pharmacy service, you’ll help patients get the most from their medicines, provide expert advice to medical and nursing colleagues, and support safe, effective prescribing across a range of clinical areas. ### Main duties of the job

To deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services across the Trust by providing patient-centred pharmaceutical care, supporting safe and effective medicines use, and contributing to the development, education, and continuous improvement of pharmacy services. The post holder will rotate through key operational and clinical areas, undertake dispensing and checking duties, provide medicines information and prescribing support, participate in audits and clinical trials work, contribute to training and mentoring, and take part in evening, weekend, bank holiday, and on-call rotas. They must maintain GPhC registration and adhere to all Trust and Pharmacy policies while supporting service provision across all Trust sites.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To participate in all aspects of the pharmacy service provided to the Trust and others to which a service is provided, with a particular emphasis on clinical pharmacy services.

To provide a high level of individualised packages of pharmaceutical care to some out-patients (others being served by our wholly owned subsidiary), and to in-patients on the wards which are allocated, involving senior pharmacy staff to advise when considered appropriate.

To gain experience and knowledge in all areas of the pharmacy service by rotating through the different areas of pharmacy practice and clinical service.

To advise medical, nursing and other healthcare staff where necessary on the therapeutic use and risk minimisation in the use of drugs and on legislation and guidance in the proper use of medicines.

To participate in the provision of medicines information services in the Trust, responding to requests for medicines information and advice from healthcare professionals and patients.

To undertake duties as a pharmacist within the dispensary, including dispensing when necessary, providing clinical and final checking and providing advice to patients on the correct use of their medicines.

If agreed, and after appropriate training, to provide a prescription transcription service to assist in the efficient admission and discharge of patients from the Trust’s hospitals.

To participate in clinical audit work both within the Pharmacy and in multi - disciplinary settings, as necessary.

To be involved in the pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials and the use of other unlicensed drug use where appropriate.

To participate actively and fully in the programme of development of pharmacy and medicines management services.

To contribute to the in-service training of pharmacy staff, other healthcare staff and patient groups where appropriate.

To support and act as a role model and mentor for Foundation Training Pharmacists (FTP).

To participate, as necessary, in weekday ‘end-of-the-day’ working to ensure that an appropriately responsive pharmacy service is provided to the patients of the Trust.

To take part, on rotation, in the provision of an on call from home emergency service out-of-hours, for which the appropriate compensation is granted.

To participate in the weekend and Bank Holiday working rotas.

To gain the postgraduate clinical Diploma through sponsored study (some of which will be done out of hours and / or at home) and workplace experience, supported by a workplace mentor, University attendance (on day release or block release) and tutorship. This only applies to permanent contracts.

To carry out any other duties as may be required within the nature and grade of the post.

To adhere to and perpetuate Trust Policies and Procedures, e.g. Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety etc.

The post holder will be required to hold, and to continue to hold, registration as a pharmacist with the UK General Pharmaceutical Council.

The post holder will be required to adhere to and perpetuate Trust and Pharmacy policies and procedures.

The post holder will have Warwick Hospital as their main base but will be required to work at / visit other hospitals in the Trust(s) as necessary.

The post holder will need to have satisfactory eyesight to be able to use visual display units, and to undergo testing to confirm this if required.

In order to be on call from home, and to visit other units served, the post holder will ideally have their own transport and motor insurance for business use.

- Post-registration work experience as a pharmacist

- Hospital work experience through the Foundation Training year or other means

### Qualifications

- Master’s degree in pharmacy (or equiv)
- Professional registration in the UK as a Pharmacist through the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Able to demonstrate Continuing Professional Development to meet statutory requirements

### Personal Qualities

**Essential**

- Has obtained or is able and willing to undertake postgraduate study for the Clinical Diploma
- An enthusiastic and flexible team worker
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to be involved in developing services
