### Job summary

Forest Lodge is an 18-bedded unit near Southampton City Centre supporting 6 female residents and 12 male residents in a communal living environment. At the unit, we proactively support residents experiencing mental health and associated difficulties to improve and/or maintain their health and wellbeing, and social inclusion, promoting the principles of recovery, choice and personalisation at all times.

As part of an innovative and professional service, the successful candidates will show initiative and resilience, and will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the recovery and care needs of residents, leading shifts, promoting Trust standards within the team and maintaining the safety and effectiveness of the ward environment, within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

The post will also involve taking an active role in managing patient flow and this will include attendance at area meetings and providing regular updates on a weekly basis

To support residents to develop, retain or regain independent living skills that have been disrupted through the experience of living with mental illness.

To actively participate in opportunities for shared learning and quality improvement, including the appraisal, supervision and teaching of qualified and unqualified staff including students.

To manage the clinical area on a shift by shift basis.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- RMN qualification & current registration with NMC. Experience of working within a variety of Mental health settings as a qualified nurse.

**Desirable**

- Attendance at Recovery College courses WRAP Facilitator training Mentorship qualification Clinical supervisor training Appraisal training
