This post requires you to be hands on working within the team undertaking duties that may be required within the retail catering team. Full time and Part time positions available. ### Main duties of the job KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Work Colleagues throughout the trust Facilities Team Leaders/Supervisors Facilities Managers Ward and Department Clinical teams Patients and General Public KEY RESULT AREAS Display a high standard of personal hygiene and presentation and demonstrate good hygiene practices. Observe confidentiality of patients and employing trusts business at all times. Food Safety checks, processes and policies are adhered to within the department. Communicate and liaise effectively within work colleagues, Managers and clinical teams in accordance with Trust values. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) temperature control, correct storage etc is adhered to. Patient/Customer Service Ensuring that consistently a high standard of customer service is delivered at all times ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Working flexibly within the retail catering team - Ensuring that cleaning is carried out to the required frequencies and standards, in line with the Food safety and UHL policies and processes. - Ensuring that waste is correctly segregated as required and that waste is stored/removed as Trust Waste Policy. - Ensure that any mechanical defects, faulty or broken equipment identified is recorded and reported and taken out of use and labelled do not use. - Observing and monitoring the team ensuring they are working safely and following processes when undertaking their duties. - Reporting of Incidents, accidents or near misses in accordance with Trust procedure. - Ensuring that the correct storage and economical use of materials and chemicals following, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) policies and procedures. - Working within chilled areas and in wet environments. - To ensure that Temperature records and cleaning checklist are being completed accurately to the required frequencies. - Responsibility, that high standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the work area adhering to Trust policies and procedures. - Ensuring stock rotation, stock is being checked for Dates, Damage and Quality with Quarantine any food items that have been identified. Completing complaint forms and advising your manager of these. - To adhere to the Trust colour coding system to prevent cross infection. - Ensure that all equipment is cleaned after use and stored appropriately. - Completing opening and closing checks. - Undertaking stock takes and recording. . Have a good understanding of the meals and beverages that are served, providing information to customers. - Cashing up and recording cash . Securing the retail area - Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested. . Carry out departmental audits. ## Person Specification ### Skills **Essential** - Have a good standard of the English language both written and oral communication skills - Ability to work as a team member or on own initiative. ### Experience **Essential** - Able to carry out instructions and duties as detailed in the job description. - Previous experience with working within a catering environment. - Willingness to work towards and achieving CIEH Level 3 in Food safety. **Desirable** - Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment. Catering experience CIEH Level 3 in Food Hygiene Supervisory experience ### Flexibility **Essential** - Flexibility to cover colleagues when required and or be able to work unsociable hours. - Flexible approach to working practices ### Physical Skills **Essential** - Working to deadlines safely in a care environment.
