It will be suitable for individuals aiming at a career in these disciplines or in general respiratory medicine. Applications will be welcomed from those seeking post CCT experience or on a respiratory training programme looking for out of programme experience. The post does not have educational or training approval, but there are educationally approved specialist registrar posts in the thoracic unit. The consultant staff will plan a training programme with the successful applicant to best suit the individual's objectives. Attendance at the East of England regional training days will be welcomed. The appointee will be encouraged to participate in the research activity of the department and suitable new projects will be fully supported. ### Main duties of the job Participate, under consultant direction, in the management of patients in the unit, developing the ability to formulate appropriate management plans for both planned and emergency situations Participate in consultant led rounds Lead a weekly ward round reviewing and discharging patients as appropriate Working alongside the senior doctors in outpatient clinics Provide ward and clinic cover at SpR level for colleagues on RSSC There may be an opportunity to take part in the on-call rota for the Chest Medical Unit ### Job responsibilities Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge.
