### Job overview

The Respiratory Investigation departments work across 5 sites including Peterborough City Hospital, Peterborough Community Diagnostic Centre, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Stamford Hospital and Doddington Community Hospital. The department provides a diagnostic service to inpatients, outpatients and a Direct Access service for GPs. The department performs basic and advanced respiratory and cardiac function tests for a wide range of specialties.

This is an excitement opportunity for a newly qualified Respiratory Physiologist or science graduate looking to further develop their skills via an Annex 21 training opportunity to join our friendly team within Respiratory Investigations.

The department offers a wide range of services including full pulmonary function tests (PFTS), airflow reversibility, FeNO, mannitol, spirometry, skin allergy testing, field walk tests, hypoxic challenge test, capillary blood gases, overnight oximetry, respiratory muscle assessment and ambulatory oxygen assessment.

The primary base for this post will be Hinchingbrooke Hospital but the successful candidate will be expected to work cross site.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will perform and report upon a range of pulmonary function tests on a wide variety of patients. To perform calibration and quality control procedures on all laboratory equipment. To undertake clinical supervision and training for less experienced staff. To assist with research and development as required. To contribute to team service development and education

Applicants appointed under Annex 21 arrangements will undertake a structured competency and development programme and work under appropriate supervision whilst progressing towards full Band 5 competency. Annex 21 remuneration will apply during the agreed development period in line with NHS Terms and Conditions.

- Sound interpersonal and organisational skills

### Knowledge and Experience

**Essential**

- Ability to perform a wide range of pulmonary function tests
- Basic Life Support
- Evidence of appropriate post registration CPD at post-graduate level.

**Desirable**

- Immediate Life Support
- Service Development skills

### Education and Qualification

**Essential**

- Qualifications BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent
- Registration in the Respiratory modality through the Registration Council For Clinical Physiologists (with appropriate BSc (hons) in Clinical Physiology or recognised level of qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement)
- ARTP professional Exam (or working towards)
