The Medicine for the Elderly service delivered by the Perth and Kinross health and social care partnership is undergoing a period of change and innovation. At present the Medicine for the Elderly unit provides a comprehensive service to older in-patients in Perth Royal Infirmary including an acute frailty team and frailty unit, acute MFE wards, orthogeriatric service and an 18 bedded rehab and assessment unit. Inpatient assessment and rehabilitation is also delivered at the community hospitals in Crieff, Blairgowrie and Pitlochry. There are clinics specialising in falls, movement disorder and bone health. Medicine for the Elderly is Tayside’s largest employer of Clinical Fellows and Speciality Doctors, and our team have a reputation for providing opportunities and career development in this career grade. It is also the stepping stone to Speciality Doctor post for doctors without enough experience to apply for a Speciality Doctor post.
