### Job summary

An exciting developmental opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 secondment to work alongside the Cardiology Team Leader. We are a team of experienced and dedicated professionals who collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver a diverse portfolio of innovative, high-quality research trials that help shape the future care of our patients.

The Research & Development Department supports a large and expanding portfolio of studies across multiple specialties. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Research Nurse or Senior Clinical Trial Coordinator to this Team Leader position. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the set-up and delivery of research trials and will thrive on the challenge of delivering high-quality cardiology research while ensuring achievement of new NIHR performance metrics through close collaboration with the Governance Team. In addition, applicants will be required to demonstrate previous line management experience.

The post will be based at the Heart and Lung Research Institute (HLRI) and Royal Papworth Hospital, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

### Main duties of the job

As a key senior member of the Research Team, you will be responsible for team line management, study feasibility, set-up, coordination and delivery of multiple commercial and non-commercial trials. Your duties include sponsor collaboration and communication with other stakeholders, working closely with your Governance facilitator on study set up activities and leading the research team on achieving study set up metrics.

You will ensure that specified milestones are achieved on time, that high-quality data is collected and that the trial is being conducted according to the ethically approved protocol and ICH-GCP E6 R3 standards.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of commercial and non-commercial cardiology clinical trials supporting the cardiology research delivery team and current Team Leader.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience in clinical research, clinical audit or experience of working in a healthor relevant science related environment, including healthcare research.
- Ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team as well as mentor andeducate junior staff.
- Knowledge and application of clinical governance frameworks including PatientSafety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), policy and procedure, audit and
- quality assurance.
- Knowledge and application of safeguarding policies and procedures, particularlythose related to vulnerable patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be able toproblem solve, use own initiative and plan, organise and prioritise own and others'
- workload.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and a willingness to participatein further training and education.
- Competent IT skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail and anunderstanding of the importance of accurate data collection and recording for
- clinical use.
- Proven experience of undertaking and coordinating research projects.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Professional adult nursing or equivalent level science qualification and clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree level OR equivalent relevant experience .
- PLUS post graduate learning or experience relevant to practice withdemonstrable competence OR specialist knowledge across the range of workprocedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevantpractical experience.
- Teaching or mentoring qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Leadership/management training and/or experience.
- Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council or other regulatory body as
- applicable and / or NIHR CRP accreditation.
