An exciting opportunity for a full time (37.5 hours per week) band 6 Research Nurse is now available in Clinical Pharmacology  working at Addenbrookes Hospital based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

You should be an excellent team member with evidence of good communication and organisational skills.

If you think you are the right candidate to work in our department alongside the existing team of caring, flexible, dedicated nurses who are passionate about research please apply.

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of high quality, patient focused clinical research studies, investigating cardiovascular disease. They will predominantly be helping to recruit to and deliver clinical trials of anti-hypertensive therapies, including weight loss therapies, in patients with essential hypertension.

### Main duties of the job

- Recruiting and delivering clinical trials of anti-hypertensive therapies
- The post holder will be expected to undertake the day-to-day responsibility for identifying and recruiting eligible clinical research participants, undertake research assessments, provide information and support to participants and assist with study specific administrative tasks, all following study protocols in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials legislation and the NHS research governance framework.
- The post holder will participate in patient and public involvement and engagement activities and liaise with other staff members and organisations, as required.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: ability to develop good working relationships with diverse study participants, healthcare professionals and external agencies
- Good organisational skills: own time & workload management
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Able to support participants through the informed consent process
- Proven administrative skills with excellent attention to detail

**Desirable**

- Relevant clinical skills e.g. Haemodynamic monitoring, venepuncture
- Numerate with good IT skills; competent in standard PC packages (Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access)

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of clinical research infrastructure in the UK and of research related legislation & regulation.
- Understanding of the requirements of ICH Good Clinical Practice; possesses current GCP Certificate
- Basic knowledge of research methods
- Knowledge of the role of the clinical research nurse; understanding the issues/process of gaining informed consent

**Desirable**

- Understand the structure, role & functions of RECs and R&D departments
- Competent in research/database PC packages

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant clinical experience at Band 5 or above
- Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience of working in a clinical research environment e.g. Clinical Trials, observational studies, participant recruitment

- Experience of co-ordinating REC and HRA submissions
- Experience of formal/informal teaching
