### Job overview

The integrated Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) service within department of Gastroenterology is offering an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse to contribute to join a team of IBD research nurses, two IBD clinical trials managers and three IBD research fellows to further develop research in the IBD service. This will include participation in a number of clinical research projects requiring expertise (with suitable training provided if needed) in multiple aspects of research, ranging from patient visits in outpatients, endoscopy and ward environments to computer-office-based work.

The post will be within the Gastroenterology department based at the new Allam Digestive Disease Centre at Castle Hill Hospitals and wards based at Hull Royal Infirmary, but the work will sometimes require travel to other partner organisations of the NHS Humber Health Partnership such as the other hospital sites in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole, primary care settings and other Trusts in the Yorkshire region. You would be expected to undertake a period of orientation undertaking competencies in relation to clinical practice in IBD clinical research. Prior research experience and exposure to gastrointestinal problems are desirable but not essential as appropriate training and mentorship will be provided.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will have continuing responsibility for assessing and meeting the needs of patients and their carers in relation to their involvement in research trials. You will ensure that participants are advised on all aspects of their involvement in research trials, including screening, identification, informed consent, data confidentiality and protection, clinical management, drug administration and maintaining patient safety through the reporting of adverse events.

In all respects, the post holder must act within the accordance of the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct, the Research Governance Framework for Health and Social care and the appropriate quality standards for each trial.

This position requires the post holder to be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated with a willingness and ability to adapt to the team’s needs. The post holder must be able work independently on the roles delegated by the principal investigator , but also work well within a team, communicating and coordinating their work effectively in order to help achieve departmental objectives.

The IBD Service Lead Professor S Sebastian will supervise you both clinically and in research, you will be line-managed by one of the the Trusts Senior Research Nurses and provided with day to day expert clinical support from the lead IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist, IBD Research Nurses and IBD Trial Managers.
