### Job overview

The Research & Development Department at RCHT are excited to be able to offer the post of Research Nurse Associate to work within the team.

This is a unique and novel role within Cornwall which will work as part of the clinical research team to support the recruitment of participants into clinical trials. Working closely with the Senior Research Nursing team and within the competencies of the role, in line with the NMC Code of Conduct, the Nurse Associate will be a crucial part of of the clinical team, helping to advance research at RCHT.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be dedicated to advancing clinical research within the Research & Development Department. The role involves supporting, coordinating, and overseeing research studies in line with the competencies of the role and scope of practice under the NMC registration, ensuring adherence to ethical, legal and regulation standards. The Research Nurse Associate plays a key role in patient care, data collection and study coordination, collaborating with other healthcare professionals and providers from across the Trust. They will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring patient safety, and contributing to the overall success of research goals. The post holder will have strong critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities and have a great attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
- Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
- Experience of dealing with confidential patient information
- Ability to communication information to patient/carers/members of MDT
- Broad and recent clinical experience relevant to the post
- Evidence of up to date professional development

**Desirable**

- Experience of clinical research within an NHS setting
- Knowledge of research design and methodology
- Previous experience working on clinical data systems

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
- NVQ Level 3 in healthcare or equivalent
- GCSE in English and Maths grade 9 to 4 (A* to C)

### Practical Skills

**Essential**

- Pertinent clinical skills including venepuncture or willingness to undertake training
- Ability to collect accurate clinical measurements including standard observations (BP, HR, RR, SP02 Temp, Height, weight, blood sugar
- Understanding of ethical practice and patient confidentiality
- Good report writing, a focus on accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Capacity to manage a diverse caseload and prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent organisational skills
- well developed IT skills including understanding of data collection and data entry for clinical trials
- Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a small team, as well as part of the wider multidisciplinary team

**Desirable**

- Evidence of interest in clinical research
- Understand the significance of research and use of validated results to improve practice
- Knowledge of the research governance framework and ICH GCP
