At Birmingham Women's & Children's NHS Foundation Trust, we are very proud of the research we carry out to help find cures and better treatments & services for women and children, both now and in the future. The Research Facilitator is responsible for providing study support to ensure high quality clinical and research governance at Birmingham Women’s & Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be based within the R&D team at Birmingham Children\`s Hospital.  They will work predominantly with the Research Facilitators, QA team, Principle Investigators, Delivery teams and Research Support services.  Some home working can be supported.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting research projects throughout their life-cycle. From expression of interest and early feasibility assessment, all the way through to study close-out and archiving.

The post holder will act as the primary R&D point of contact for a portfolio of research projects. They will be responsible for managing a number of disease speciality areas within paediatrics and women's health research.

A significant function of this post is to setup new research projects within the Trust. This includes a mixture of academic and commercial research; clinical trials, other interventional studies, as well as observational research projects. The post holder will negotiate costings and contracts following national policy, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate practical internal setup activity.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- First level Degree or equivalent experience

**Desirable**

- Masters Degree

### Knowledge & Nature of Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of clinical or NHS research environment, to include experience in the approval, set up and conduct of clinical research studies
- Experience of both commercial and non-commercial research studies
- Experience of project management, working to deadlines and managing own workload

**Desirable**

- Previous experience in a facilitation role or equivalent

### Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
