### Job overview

This post will focus on driving business development activities and expanding OHCT’s capabilities in clinical research with a particular focus on Trust research priorities such as Immune Effector Cell Therapies. The role will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategies to enhance our research portfolio and foster collaborations with industry partners. To ensure the financial sustainability of our clinical trials initiatives, this position will be involved in financial management, overseeing non-commercial funding and commercial trial income, collaborating closely with the OHCT Clinical Trial Manager to monitor profitability and areas for reinvestment. This role will not only enhance Oncology and Haematology research opportunities at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust but also, provide a competitive edge, facilitating the development of new therapies and granting more researchers and patients access to trials and treatments.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing timely set-up of Commercial and Non-Commercial clinical trials, including directing and line-managing the set-up team including the OHCT Set-Up Specialist and Imaging and Pathology Coordinator as well as a team of data managers.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to innovate, respond to and initiate change
- Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- In depth working knowledge of current clinical trial landscape and potential impact
- Proven ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise own work in a busy work environment and time critical situations.
- Able to co-ordinate and influence the activity of others to produce work within agreed timescales and quality standards. Evidence of ability to work on own initiative.
- Experience and ability in project management

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of initiation of clinical trials including feasibility reviews and budget negotiation
- Extensive experience relevant to the field of Oncology and Haematology
- Experience of developing systems for information dissemination/ performance monitoring
- Leadership/ management experience

### Knowledge/Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to masters degree or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Relevant project management qualification eg PRINCE2
