### Job overview

We are seeking applications from a motivated individual to join the Clinical Science & Engineering team, as a Rehabilitation Engineering Technician on a one-year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Please note: we are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.

### Main duties of the job

The job holder will:

- Support the multidisciplinary Medical Engineering team
- Apply technical skills to support wheelchair & special seating clinics
- Manufacture of bespoke seating and rehabilitation aids using the mechanical workshop
- Carry out wheelchair maintenance and repair

Predominantly the service operates from the purpose-built Medical Engineering facility, but there would be a requirement to travel to satellite clinics.

- Good hand-eye coordination with practical problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Empathetic to our patients and service users
- Good customer service

Applications would be considered at a lower banding if criteria for qualifications or experience are not met. This is a full-time post but reduced hours will be considered for the right candidate.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Mechanical Engineering workshop practice including metal work and wood working skills
- Providing good customer service and team working

**Desirable**

- Experience working in a clinical setting with patients

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- City & Guilds/Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work based experience. Score 1 if Level 2 qualifications only)

### Knowledge & Skills

**Essential**

- Current & clean driving licence

### Knowledge & skills

**Essential**

- Ability perform practical problem solving and fault finding
- Ability to organise and priorities allocated work load
