## Job Content

### Job overview

This post is based in the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) department at St Mary’s Hospital. Our service is one of the first emergency medicine-led SDEC units and forms part of a highly effective, collaborative urgent care system. The role offers excellent clinical exposure to a wide range of emergency presentations, with a particular focus on acute medical patients. Access to advanced diagnostics, specialist advice and follow-up services makes this a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. The post is well suited to doctors with at least one year of experience in emergency medicine or acute medicine following foundation training, and includes protected time for self-development, study and quality improvement work. Post holders will be supported by an educational supervisor or mentor and encouraged to set and achieve their own professional development objectives.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will work a varied shift pattern within Same Day Emergency Care, including at least one late shift each week and participation in a one-in-three weekend rota. Annualised working and self-rostering are available and actively encouraged, offering flexibility and greater control over work patterns. In addition, one educational development shift is provided every six weeks, creating protected time for quality improvement, research, teaching and personal professional development.

- Review investigation results promptly and ensure appropriate follow-up arrangements are in place for patients when needed.
