### Job overview

We are looking for a motivated registered nurse to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide specialised nursing care for critically ill patients. This requires detailed knowledge of equipment and wide knowledge of critical illness and involves the planning coordination, implementation and evaluation of care for critically ill patients, ensuring that high quality safe care for patients is paramount.

The Critical Care Unit supports staff in their continuous professional development through education and experience in collaboration with local, regional and national providers. Quality improvement initiatives are encouraged and supported by the leadership team. Staff health and wellbeing is promoted and supported.

### Main duties of the job

### Deliver high standards of evidence-based critical care in accordance with Trust policies, professional codes of conduct, and current clinical guidelines, while maintaining professionalism, patient confidentiality, and promoting Trust values.

### Undertake comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for critically ill patients, including conscious and unconscious patients, ensuring accurate documentation and effective communication with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.

### Provide safe and effective management of critically ill patients requiring complex interventions and specialist equipment, including ventilatory support, invasive monitoring, infusion therapies, haemodynamic monitoring, renal replacement therapy, and emergency response procedures.

### Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment for admissions, procedures, and ongoing patient care, ensuring all equipment is functional and staff are supported in its safe use.

### Complete Step 1 of the National Competency Framework for Registered Nurses in Adult Critical Care within 12 months, with the opportunity to undertake further critical care study at Level 6 or Level 7 alongside Steps 2 and 3 competencies.
