An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IBD Registered Nurse - Band 5 to join the IBD Nursing Team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

As a Band 5 Registered Nurse you will have an interest in IBD and in moving into a specialist team. We are looking to recruit nurses with a passion to provide support and care to patients with IBD, especially with regards to their ongoing treatments, including Biological Therapies. You will be supervised, supported by and work closely with the Lead IBD Nurse Specialist and the Band 6 IBD Nurse Specialists and work closely with your fellow Band 5 IBD Registered Nurse. You will also work closely with our medical clinicians in providing information, care and support to patients with IBD from diagnosis and throughout their treatment including during periods of remission. You will demonstrate a willingness to enhance your skills and knowledge to support the IBD Nursing Service and the vision and enthusiasm to make a major contribution to the specialist nursing service and its patients.

The Gastroenterology Department at NNUH provides an excellent range of services delivered by our dedicated multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses and administrative personnel to the population of Norfolk. The Gastroenterology Team work with a wide spectrum of patients including those who have IBD, Liver problems, Nutritional concerns, Substance Misuse issues and GI Cancers.

### Main duties of the job

To work with all members of the Gastroenterology Department IBD clinical team within the multidisciplinary framework. Maintain a high standard of patient care and support to patients with IBD from diagnosis and throughout their treatment including periods of remission, under the direction of the Lead IBD Nurse Specialist. To work in accordance with the principles laid down by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies

Main duties include:

- Coordinating Biological Therapies for patients, working autonomously but with support and under supervision from the IBD Nurse Specialists.
- Monitoring patient’s condition and response to therapies through blood monitoring and investigations such as Faecal Calprotectin, when required by their medical treatment or symptoms, including looking at results and highlighting any concerns to the IBD Nurse Specialists.
- Maintaining accurate documentation including letters, spreadsheets and databases for all IBD patients and collate information for the purposes of audit and research

- Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence.
- To have successfully completed the Trust’s preceptorship programme
- Maintain a high standard of nursing care applying evidence-based practice.
- Carry out assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care without supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of all care given.
- Update patient administration systems e.g. PAS to ensure real time data collection and confidentiality.
- To effectively use information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trust’s Cyber Code of Conduct.
- To maintain confidentiality of information (written, verbal, electronic), whilst being aware of the Freedom for Information Act.
- To promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers, significant others, the multi-disciplinary team and support services.
