Are you looking for an exciting and challenging opportunity ?

We are recruiting an RMN to undertake the role of a Staff Nurse on PICU at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, providing assessment and treatment to adults with various mental health conditions, in the in-patient setting of the Mental Health. This role will be 12 hour shift pattern, and enable the successful Staff Nurse to develop in a busy, friendly team where your skills and ideas are valued and your development supported.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude to working with people with complex mental health needs and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will manage their own caseload of patients, and act as an expert resource in the care and treatment of patients experiencing a range of mental health problems relevant to the area of practice.

Please note: We welcome applications from registered nurses; however, this role is not suitable for student nurses who have not yet obtained NMC registration. Candidates must be registered with the NMC at the point of application.

### Main duties of the job

Using the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2012 framework, work with the individual to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate their needs. Utilise the improvement process and agree on realistic and achievable outcomes.

Participate in individual care and treatment reviews.

Administer, monitor, and supervise prescribed medication.

Observe and report appropriately on therapeutic effects and any potential side effects, using evidence-based scales.

Offer support, advice, and information to carers/relatives.

Encourage carers to contribute to care planning and practice in a way that fosters trust and cooperation—thereby improving patient care—while maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Contribute, as a member of the multidisciplinary team, to clinical reviews and case formulation; report on patients' conditions to other professionals; and provide written reports as required, including for mental health tribunals.

Adhere to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board policies and procedures in all areas of clinical practice.

Using the Mental Health Measure 2012 framework, to work with the individual to assess, plan, implement and evaluate their needs.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge within inpatient MH settings
- IT literacy

**Desirable**

- Welsh language Speaking/Listening Skills Level 3 or above

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience as a band 5 registered mental health nurse or applications from new registrants
- Experience of multi-disciplinary and/or multi agency working

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with the designated client group

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- UK NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Knowledge of mental health act, mental health measure

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB modernisation of service plan
