Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit, an exciting collaboration between NHS England and NHS Wales on the grounds of the Countess of Chester Health Park.

The Mother and Baby Unit is a specialist provision for women with mental health problems during pregnancy and/or in the year after their baby is born. Patients in the postnatal period will have their babies with them during their time as an inpatient on the Mother and Baby Unit. Seren Lodge is an 8 bedded unit with 6 beds commissioned by NHS England for the women of Cheshire and Merseyside and 2 beds commissioned by NHS Wales for the women of North Wales. The Mother and Baby Unit also accept referrals for out of area women when there are beds available.

Please note that this vacancy may close early if there is a high volume of applicants.

The post is part time 28.75 hours per week.

### Main duties of the job

We are hoping to build a supportive and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team, working on a rotational shift basis which includes day and night shifts. The posts offer the successful applicant the exciting opportunity to build a team that provides the highest quality of care for our service users.

The applicants must be able to demonstrate an understanding and application of the 6 C’s in practice, these being Care; Compassion; Competence; Communication; Courage and Commitment.

Seren Lodge is based on the Countess of Chester Health Park Site approximately 1.5 miles from Chester city centre.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in writing comprehensive care plans and completing/documenting risk assessments

**Desirable**

- Post-graduate experience
- Experience of liaison with other services
- Experience of carrying out clinical supervision

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- RMN
- Ongoing registration with appropriate professional body
- Evidence of continuous professional development that supports clinical practice

### Knowledge and Expertise

**Essential**

- Excellent communicator both verbally and in the form of written communication
- Well developed research based knowledge and practical nursing skills
- An understanding of basic management principles
- Ability to work unsupervised
- A positive approach towards the use of Information Technology
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and understanding of safeguarding management
- Up to date knowledge of current mental health legislation
- Ability to work sensibly and compassionately with patients, families and carers

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of perinatal mental health conditions
