### Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Registered Biomedical Scientist to work in our friendly, well-equipped Cellular Pathology department, which processes approximately 35,000 samples per year, providing essential services to the Trust and the wider healthcare community.   You will have excellent communication, scientific and time management skills and your work will ensure that the department continues to deliver a high quality, timely and effective service, where patient safety and experience are central.

The role will require the post-holder to be flexible and highly organised, able to align their values with those of the organisation and to work as part of an enthusiastic team with a ‘can-do’ positive attitude.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all core aspects of routine Cellular Pathology including microtomy, embedding, special staining techniques, Immunohistochemistry and specimen transfers.  Previous laboratory experience will be advantageous including knowledge of quality management, health & safety and quality improvement .

### Education

**Essential**

- IBMS accredited degree in Biomedical Science
- Current HCPC registration

### Skills & Abilities

**Essential**

- Be able to follow technically complex procedures and protocols
- Ability to organise own workload and demonstrate initiative

**Desirable**

- Experience of Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS)

### Personal attributes

**Essential**

- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Evidence of good communication skills

### Experience & Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge and experience of Good Laboratory Practice

**Desirable**
