### Job overview

This is a training role within the University of Reading. All posts are based within the CAMHS service but each successful candidate will work within one of the following pathways:

- - Central Bedfordshire CAMH Access Service - South Bedfordshire and Luton / Central Bedfordshire Primary Care Access Service

The post holder will be providing CBT interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The teams are part of a broader North and South Bedfordshire CAMHS service and work alongside other teams which offer specialist support, for example for clients in crisis, or those with eating disorders.

### Main duties of the job

This intensive training post will equip the postholder to provide evidence-based interventions based NICE Guideline recommended treatment and on CYP-IAPT core principles of accessibility, accountability, participation, awareness and evidence-based practice to provide an inclusive and effective service for children and young people. The post holder will work in the service for at least 2.5-3.0 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst training for the remaining days.

The post holder will hold an appropriate training case load for the course and work with Children Young people and families with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities and inclusive, non-discriminatory practice.

The post holders will have opportunities to further develop service development and leadership skills through undertaking and contributing to clinical audit, service evaluation and quality improvement projects and research activities where appropriate.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- - To have ability to manage case load and act as care coordinator for clients on case list
- - To be able to function as part of multi disciplinary team and liaise with external agencies i.e. primary care, education, social and health care
- - To have ability to assess client need, both mental health, health and social needs
- - Ability to reflect on and critically appraise the performance of self and others.
- - Understanding of evidence based practice and the ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice

**Desirable**

- - To have knowledge and understanding of the research process

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Post qualification experience in a mental health setting, working with young people or adults with mental illness.

**Desirable**

- - Experience of using Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS
- - Experience of working with children and young people who have serious mental illness and their families and carers in the community

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- - RMN, OT, SW or equivalent professional qualification
- - Evidence of continuing professional development
- - If no core profession has been obtained then candidate must evidence qualification through KSA portfolio (BABCP) prior to commencing the course.

**Desirable**

- - Professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma
- - Teaching/mentoring qualification
