This is an exciting time to join our Trust. South West London St. Georges is at the beginning of an exciting journey of transforming our community mental health services.

TITLE OF POST: Recovery Support Worker Band 4 If you want to live locally and work locally, with an employer that offers flexible and agile working with great development and carer progression opportunities, then this may be the role you!

The post holder MUST have a valid driving licence and access to a car to enable them to carry out home visits. Please do not apply if you do not fit these criteria.

### Main duties of the job

The Kingston Home Treatment Team is a tertiary service complementing Community Mental Health Teams in the Borough of Kingston targeting people between the ages of 18 and 75 years with wide ranging psychiatric disorders. The service comprises of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioners, Recovery Support Workers and Administrators. The  primary role of the service is to provide an alternative to acute hospital admission through short term intensive treatment at home whilst assessing and managing risk in the community. The service is responsible for gatekeeping and bed management of the acute  ward based at Springfield University Hospital, operating 24hrs/7days a week.

The post holder will contribute to the growth and maintenance of key functions of the clinical area by carrying out assigned tasks, involving direct and indirect care to clients, under minimal supervision and as directed by the Shift Co-ordinator and/or Team Manager.

Following personal development planning and targeted training, you will be in a position to work more autonomously in supporting clients. As a result you will have developed a broad underpinning knowledge at intermediate level, and have the ability to evaluate information  and communicate effectively with a range of professionals.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of mental health services (as a worker or service user / carer)
- Experience of working in Health and or Social Care services
- Demonstrable ability of supervising other staff
- Experience of training staff

**Desirable**

- Personal experience of mental health problems
- Experience of working as a Recovery Support (STR) Worker
- Experience of supervising staff

### Training & Qualifications

**Essential**

- Ability and desire to obtain underpinning knowledge through Recovery Training
- Achieved NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent
- A commitment to undertake continuing personal and professional development
